Weighing, the measurement of mass using gravity, is one of the oldest measuring techniques. The ancient Egyptians already knew weighing equipment. But even today, thanks to electronics and computer technology, weighing technology is very much alive.
The VLW (Association of Suppliers of Weighing Instruments) was founded as a result of the weighing consultation platform that was set up in the 1980s, jointly with the then Weights and Measures Authority.
Suppliers of weighing equipment are affiliated with the VLW. For the consultation of the government with the suppliers, both manufacturers and importers, the VLW is the consultation body.
